Where these fall near midnight UTC, the local date shifts. The first Aries entry was the evening of May 24, 2025 on US Pacific time. The February 14, 2026 entry was the evening of February 13 across the Americas. The July 26, 2026 station is July 27 in India and Singapore, the December 10, 2026 station is December 11 there, and the August 9, 2027 station is August 10 in Singapore. The December 24, 2027 station is December 23 in the Americas, and the Taurus ingress is the evening of April 12, 2028 on US Pacific time.

Why Aries is called Saturn’s fall

In traditional astrology Saturn is exalted in Libra and in its fall in Aries, the opposite sign. Aries is ruled by Mars and is the sign of the Sun’s exaltation: fast, hot, direct and new. Saturn is slow, cold, patient and concerned with limits and time. A planet in its fall is in the sign that least supports its nature, which is a statement about fit, not a verdict on anyone’s year.

Astrologers read Saturn in Aries as impatience meeting discipline. Its themes include learning to lead rather than simply to start, building courage that lasts beyond the first push, and taking responsibility for your own direction instead of waiting for permission. The difficulty they describe is friction between speed and structure: wanting results now while Saturn insists on doing the groundwork.

The transit opened with a rare meeting. Saturn and Neptune came together at 0°45′ Aries late on February 20, 2026 UTC (already February 21 in Singapore and East Asia), their first conjunction since 1989, when they met three times in Capricorn. Astrologers read Saturn–Neptune contacts as structure meeting ideals: beliefs tested against reality, and dreams either given a workable form or let go where they can’t take one. Because this one fell in the first degree of Aries, it is often read as a keynote for the whole transit, though how much weight it carries is a matter of interpretation.

The two retrogrades sharpen the focus on particular degrees. From July to December 2026 Saturn backs up from 14°44′ to 7°55′ Aries; from August to December 2027 it goes from 27°52′ back to 21°01′ Aries. The last time: Saturn in Aries, 1996 to 1999

Saturn last entered Aries on April 7, 1996. It moved into Taurus on June 9, 1998 (the evening of June 8 on US Pacific time), slipped back into Aries during its retrograde in late October 1998, and left for good on March 1, 1999 (February 28 in the Americas).

People born in those windows, from April 1996 to early June 1998 and from late October 1998 to the end of February 1999, have Saturn in Aries in their birth charts. Saturn takes 29.46 years to orbit the Sun (NASA’s Saturn fact sheet), so this transit is their first Saturn return, arriving in their late twenties. Astrologers associate the first Saturn return with taking adult responsibility for your choices, and work, relationships and home are commonly reassessed around it. Vedic dates: Shani enters Mesha in 2027

Vedic astrology uses the sidereal zodiac, about 24° behind the tropical one on the Lahiri ayanamsa, so Saturn reaches sidereal Aries (Mesha) more than a year later. By our estimate, made from the tropical positions, Saturn enters Mesha around June 3, 2027, slips back into Pisces (Meena) around late October 2027 during its retrograde, and returns to Mesha around late February 2028. That is why Vedic calendars give 2027, not 2026, as the year Saturn moves into Aries.
