How this calendar works
Each time is the minute, in UTC, when the Sun and Moon line up. The sign is where the Moon is. At a New Moon the Sun is in the same sign; at a Full Moon it sits opposite, so a Full Moon in Scorpio has the Sun in Taurus. The degree shows how far into the sign it falls.

13 New Moons, 12 Full Moons, five eclipses; Eclipses 2027 covers each eclipse.
Patterns in the 2027 Moons
- ✦Two New Moons in August. The first, on August 2 at 10:05 UTC, is the total solar eclipse at 9°55′ Leo. The second follows on August 31 at 17:41 UTC, at 8°06′ Virgo.
- ✦Two Full Moons in a row in Scorpio. April 20 at 0°36′ Scorpio, at the very start of the sign, and May 20 at 29°13′ Scorpio, at the very end, both with the Sun in Taurus.
- ✦Five eclipse lunations: February 6, February 20, July 18, August 2 and August 17.
- ✦No month with two Full Moons. In UTC, every calendar month of 2027 has exactly one Full Moon.
- ✦The degrees drift. New Moons fall near 17° of their sign from January to March and slip back to about 6° by December, because the 29.5-day cycle of phases is shorter than the Sun’s stay in most signs.
Converting the times to your time zone
In 2027, US daylight saving time runs from March 14 to November 7, and UK summer time from March 28 to October 31; India stays at UTC+5:30 and Singapore at UTC+8 all year. When a lunation falls within a few hours of midnight UTC, the local date can change. Three examples:
- ✦The New Moon of April 6 at 23:51 UTC is April 7 in London (00:51), India (05:21) and Singapore (07:51).
- ✦The Full Moon of June 19 at 00:44 UTC is still June 18 in New York (20:44) and Los Angeles (17:44).
- ✦The New Moon of December 27 at 20:12 UTC is December 28 in India (01:42) and Singapore (04:12).
Below is every 2027 lunation whose date differs from UTC in at least one of five cities, converted with the IANA time-zone database. Bold marks the changed dates.

What astrologers do with New and Full Moons
Astrologers associate the New Moon with beginnings: setting an intention, starting quietly. The Full Moon is linked with culmination and visibility, when something started earlier comes to light, and with releasing what has run its course. The sign colours the theme: a New Moon in Virgo is often read in terms of routines and skill, a Full Moon in Aries in terms of courage.
To make a lunation personal, astrologers look at the house it falls in: with Whole Sign houses, the lunation’s sign counted from your Rising sign, which your birth chart shows. Your natal Moon sign is a separate placement, the Moon’s sign at your birth, read for emotional needs and habits. The Moon sign calculator finds it, and the Big Three explainer shows how it fits with your Sun and Rising signs.
Moon calendar questions
When is the next Full Moon?
As of October 2026, the next Full Moon is on October 26, 2026 at 04:11 UTC, at 2°45′ Taurus; on US Pacific time that is the evening of October 25. The first Full Moon of 2027 is on January 22 at 12:17 UTC, at 2°14′ Leo.
What is a black moon?
A folk term with more than one meaning and no astronomical definition. The most common is the second New Moon in a calendar month. By that usage August 2027 has one in UTC (August 2 and August 31), but not in Singapore and further east, where the second New Moon falls on September 1.
Are names like Wolf Moon or Harvest Moon official?
No. They are folk names from European and North American almanac traditions; The Old Farmer’s Almanac publishes one widely used set. Astrology names a lunation by its sign, so this calendar uses signs.
